9. The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited
The Elder Scrolls series of role-playing games has been going strong since the first game in the series was released in 1994. These games offer an immersive role-playing experience in a medieval fantasy world, and game creators Bethesda’s have always touted that the Scrolls games let players be whoever they want, and do whatever they want – such is the freedom you have in the game’s open-world. And the latest game in the series, Skyrim, is certainly one of the best role-playing games ever made.
But if there’s something that gamers have always wanted from The Elder Scrolls games is a multiplayer mode, and Bethesda has answered their prayers with The Elder Scrolls Online, the first multiplayer entry in the series. The game offers a huge amount of territory to explore: gamers can visit the provinces of Skyrim and Morrowind, as well as the huge city of Dagerfall. And although the original PC release was slightly disappointing, Bethesda has since improved things immeasurably, and has also ditched the subscription fee – meaning that this is one online role-playing game that could give World of Warcraft a run for its money.
Release date: June 9, 2015. Available on PS4, Xbox One and PC. The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited is rated ‘M’ for Mature in the U.S. and PEGI-18 in the United Kingdom.
