10. Sid Meier’s Civilization IV: Colonization

Not as good as the original Colonization, but still a fun strategy game.

Sid Meier’s 1994 Colonization game is no doubt a classic. So fans of the Civilization series were ecstatic when a remake was released in 2008, allowing them to relive the era of the colonization of the New World in glorious high definition.

The remake, though, failed to capture the charm of the original 90’s game, and some changes to gameplay made this less engaging to play. But still, the more up to date graphics, interface and other enhancements make this an enjoyable romp through the New World, letting you help or subjugate the natives, rival the other colonial powers (England, France, Spain and The Netherlands) and finally fight it out with your mother nation in a bloody war for independence.
