11. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis

The Nemesis creature was a fearsome foe, but Resident Evil 3 hasn’t aged that well though.

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis was one of the best-selling games for the old PlayStation console, and is set in the familiar Raccoon City. And while this is mostly a well-executed zombie slaughter fest, the game also does have some interesting ideas to Capcom’s credit.

The Nemesis creature which stalks protagonist Jill Valentine throughout the game is surely a high point, while getting to make critical choices that affect the game’s outcome is great too. Resident Evil 3 looks pretty dated these days, though, and is not actually a true sequel to part 2 (Code Veronica takes credit for that). But still, this has been an influential game and some of its ideas and characters have featured in modern games and the Resident Evil movies too. So here’s hoping that this gets the remaster treatment soon enough like other games in the series have.
