5. Resident Evil 7
It is clear that 2012’s Resident Evil 6 left many people with a bitter taste in their mouths, as it was more of an action-adventure game than the horror experience Resident Evil had offered over the years. So fans of the series felt relief when Capcom announced that their eagerly awaited Resident Evil 7 would make a return to the series’ survival horror roots.
And thankfully this proved to be as terrifying an experience as the first games in the franchise were. Actually this had some pretty chilling moments, some of which were made even scarier by the switch to a first person perspective. Resident Evil 7 was also the first to feature VR support, making it the most immersive Resident Evil game ever for those lucky to own a virtual reality headset. So even if the game’s last third is more action-oriented and drags a bit, overall this still is one of the best Resident Evil games we have gotten our hands on to date.
