Top 10 video games coming in the second half of 2023

4. Assassin’s Creed Mirage

It’s been a while since the last Assassin’s Creed game hit the shelves, so it makes sense that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is one of the most eagerly anticipated games of the year. Unlike its predecessor Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, this won’t be a sprawling, open-world RPG with a ton of things to see and do. Rather, it will be a more linear, focused game not featuring a massive open world and role-playing elements like Valhalla did.

Actually, Ubisoft is planning to deliver a similar experience to that of the first Assassin’s Creed (which launched in 2007, nostalgia fans) as this is set in a Middle Eastern city (9th century Baghdad), once again pitting the Assassins vs the Templars. Assassin’s Creed Mirage also brings back the character of Basim (who serves as the game’s protagonist), someone those who played Assassin’s Creed Valhalla are likely familiar with. It remains to be seen, though, whether Ubisoft’s return to the series roots will end up being a success or not when this arrives this fall, even if Mirage is one of several Assassin’s Creed games arriving in the next couple of years.

Release date: October 12, 2023. Available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC.
