5. Alan Wake 2
Alan Wake 2 is also made by the people at Remedy Entertainment (famous for Max Payne and others), and features the same Pacific Northwest setting as the first game, plus two major protagonists. There’s agent Saga Anderson who’s investigating a series of ritualistic murders in Bright Falls, plus writer Alan Wake himself, who’s trapped in a location known as the “Dark Place” after the events of the first game, writing a horror story as he attempts to escape, as seen in the trailer below. Like the original, this will also be played from a third-person perspective and feature supernatural elements, and could turn out to be one of the year’s top games when it arrives this fall.
Release date: October 17, 2023. Available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
