12. Tomb Raider: Chronicles (2000)
Tomb Raider: Chronicles was the first entry in the series released in the new millennium, and the last Tomb Raider game on Sony’s original PlayStation console. With Lara Croft presumed dead at the end of the earlier Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, this game’s story was based on a series of flashbacks about Lara’s earlier adventures.
Tomb Raider: Chronicles did feature a wealth of locations for players to explore, from a Russian submarine base to a haunted Irish castle, where an unarmed Lara has to run away from enemies in a level that wasn’t that much fun. And sadly the gameplay in Chronicles never rises above mediocrity due to the dimwit enemies, sometimes obscure puzzles and the not that great control scheme, making this a decent but ultimately uninspired Tomb Raider game.
