Combat wasn’t Underworld’s forte, but exploring the game’s great locations was a joy.

Tomb Raider: Underworld was a sequel of sorts to the earlier Tomb Raider: Legend, and the game’s plot had Lara searching for another mystical artefact, this time the fabled Hammer of Thor from Norse mythology. This game still focused on adventure and exploration first and foremost, and solving Underworld’s puzzles was still a pleasure as well as navigating the game’s large-scale environments like caves and underwater locations.

This Tomb Raider game did suffer from some of the same problems as its predecessors, such as the so-so controls, wonky camera and poor combat… Underworld was also a tad short compared to earlier entries, but the new moves available to players, the good visuals and sound, and the solid level design made this a worthy Tomb Raider game overall.
