4. Dead Space

Dead Space is a sci-fi survival horror game. The protagonist Isaac is an engineer who finds himself stranded on the Ishimura, a huge mining spaceship. Which means that there are a lot of mining tools around that can be also used as weapons. This is a good thing considering that the spaceship is full of really nasty aliens known as necromorphs.

Early on, your colleague Kendra tells you in a transmission that the only way to kill the necromorphs is to “dismember” them. So you know you are in for a violent ride. But still, it is hard to feel sorry for the necromorphs. Like zombies, they just want to tear you apart in gruesome ways, so you return the favour by removing their limbs with Isaac’s mining tools. The whole thing is quite bloody and gory and at times truly frightening, as Dead Space is quite a violent and aggressive game.
