6. Gangstar: Miami Vindication

Miami Vindication surprised many back in 2010, as it turned out to be one of the best GTA-style games you can play on mobile (aside from Rockstar’s own offerings, that is). Like Rockstar’s highly-acclaimed Vice City this is set in Miami, and like the 2002 hit features a protagonist that’s looking to become king of the criminal underworld.

This is also the high point of the Gameloft’s Gangstar series of games, and aside from cars also lets you pilot other vehicles such as bikes, and also fly through the skies of Miami on an helicopter if you so choose. And Miami was recreated in great detail here, which no doubt is impressive for a mobile game. Plus the variety of missions and involving story mean this is a GTA clone that’s likely to please GTA fans, and those looking for something that delivers a similar experience to Rockstar’s world-conquering series on mobile devices.
