8. Commandos: Origins

This is the first new entry in the Commandos series for almost twenty years (if you don’t count the HD remasters of the previous games which came out in 2022, that is) and is made by German outfit Claymore Game Studios. Like the earlier games, Origins is set in the midst of World War II, during which the titular Commandos unit has to carry out a series of missions.

There are ten missions in total the game, taking players to a variety of locations like the African desert and the coasts of western Europe. The squad of six commandos includes a sniper, driver and spy amongst other roles, and you need to guide each of these during missions to accomplish your goals in order to free the continent from Nazi occupation. But will this game deliver the same good real-time tactics gameplay as its predecessors did? Those who are into the Commandos games are surely hoping it will when its released later this year.

Release date: April 9, 2025. Available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, PS4 and Xbox One (also on Game Pass).
