9. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake

No matter how you look at it, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is one of the greatest RPGs of all time. But Bethesda’s game is looking a big long in the tooth these days, while its gameplay is also showing its age. So it makes sense that Microsoft (which owns Bethesda Game Studios) is planning to release a remake of Oblivion this year,
as rumors doing the rounds online suggest. Such a remake would be hitting the shelves soon, and is made by US developer Virtuos using Unreal Engine 5, meaning it should boast state of the art visuals and modernized gameplay.
Actually, improvements to combat supposedly include enemies being more resistant to knock downs, “Soulslike” style blocking and better in-game archery in both first-person and third-person perspectives… But will the Oblivion remake – which will almost certainly land on Game Pass if it materializes this spring – be superior to fan-made remake Skyblivion, which is also landing this year? This remains to be seen.
Release date: TBA 2025. Available on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
