Nowadays, with the advent of Blu-ray, large widescreen TVs and home cinema systems, many people would rather watch movies at home than flock to the cinema. And who can blame them? It is a fast food world and most of us have couch potato syndrome. But if there is a man who has managed to draw more people to the cinema in his native Germany than any other actor, director and producer, it is Til Schweiger.

As an actor, he has appeared in high profile movies such as Tarantino’s controversial Inglourious Basterds, in which he played Sgt. Hugo Stiglitz. As far as video game movies go, he starred in Lara Croft: The Cradle of Life, sequel to the original Tomb Raider movie. Now this one was better than the original mainly because it did not abuse CGI like the first movie did, and had Lara fighting human enemies in some pretty cool action sequences. But sadly Til Schweiger also appeared in the Far Cry movie, which was another video game adaptation by the infamous Uwe Boll, so the less is said of it, the better…
