Tagawa played the character of Shang Tsung in the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie. As video game movies go, it was pretty decent, with a plot based on the martial arts classic Enter the Dragon. If you are familiar with the video game, then you know how the movie’s plot plays out: Liu Kang wins the tournament after beating demonic sorcerer Shang Tsung in the final match. Tagawa plays Shang Tsung convincingly, with an evil look and menacing posture, and his line “your soul is mine” – which he utters before absorbing the soul of vanquished Mortal Kombat combatants – is one of the highlights of the movie.

As a side note, sexy actress Talisa Soto also appears in the movie (she plays Princess Kitana) and also starred alongside Tagawa in the 1989 James Bond film License to Kill.
