The GTA series is certainly one of the best-selling and most loved video game series of all time. And Rockstar’s GTA games have become such a wild success due to their great gameplay and attention to detail, with beautifully recreated settings like Liberty City, and simply due to the fact that these games are so immersive and stupendous fun to play.
But which of the GTA games is the best and which the worst? Given that the series has been played and loved by millions, this will surely be a matter of passionate debate, as some gamers may prefer GTA V with its trio of protagonists and beautifully recreated Los Santos, while others may prefer the sprawling greatness of GTA: San Andreas. Here follows a list of the core GTA games, ranked from best to worst.
1. Grand Theft Auto V
If one thing is clear, is that GTA V is one of the best games in recent memory. Its trio of protagonists Franklin, Trevor and Michael got caught up in the criminal underworld of a decadent Los Santos (a city based on real life L.A.) and gamers got to play some of the most enjoyable missions to date in the game’s painstakingly detailed open world.
And although the game has generated controversy due to its violent nature and arguably sexist attitudes towards women, roaming around Los Santos and engaging in the game’s heists was surely a blast. And while the GTA series is something of a cultural phenomenon, there is no doubt that GTA V stands in its own right as one of the best-selling, most loved and most played video games of all time.
