3. Resident Evil 9

Capcom recently confirmed a new Resident Evil game is in the works, and Resident Evil 7 director Koshi Nakanishi will be taking the reins here. He is looking to deliver another “fear-focused” game like 2017’s Resident Evil 7: Biohazard was – so said the man on a video released during Capcom’s Next event this summer.

Regarding what to expect from Resident Evil 9, rumors suggest an island-setting for this game as well as open-world gameplay, which would be a first for the series. Also, Leon Kennedy (the protagonist of last year’s Resident Evil 4 remake – pictured) could be the lead in this upcoming game. Resident Evil 9 does not yet have a specific release date attached to it, but will very likely hit shelves sometime in 2025.
