Top 20 Role-Playing Video Games Ever Made

17. Dragon Age: Origins

Dragon Age: Origins was the first game of the Dragon Age series, released back in 2009. It had a great story set in the fantasy world of Thedas and a memorable cast of characters, with a villain voiced by Tim Curry being the highlight. The game’s soundtrack by Inon Zur was also great.

Also, despite its successor Dragon Age: Inquisition making many “Game of the Year” lists back in the day, Origins is arguably the better game. Inquisition had rather weak combat, which involved little more than button mashing, while Origins had superior tactical combat that rewarded thought and planning. Also Dragon Age: Inquisition had a filler issue, forcing the player to do plenty of boring and uninspired MMO-like quests to advance the plot. And while Dragon Age: Origins was a shorter game than the later Inquisition, it is still the best game in the Dragon Age franchise and also one of the best RPGs of all time.
