Top 20 Role-Playing Video Games Ever Made

7. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is set in ancient Greece, and came out a year after Assassin’s Creed Origins, which was set in ancient Egypt. It is the more accomplished game of the two, though, and a full-blown RPG featuring dialogue options, unlike the previous games in the Assassin’s Creed series. This means players can make choices throughout the game that will turn the tide of events one way or the other in true RPG style. Playing as either Alexios or Kassandra (the game’s two protagonists) you got to explore a big chunk of the Greek islands and hunt down members of an evil cult looking to impose its will on ancient Greece.

As in other role-playing games of this ilk, there’s a ton of gear to collect, from armor to weapons, so you should be well prepared to take on not only the cult but the mercenaries sent after your hide. There are also many side quests separate from the main story, which is moving at times and one of the best yet in an Assassin’s Creed game. The latest games in the series may have ditched the role-playing elements, but Assassin’s Creed Odyssey still remains one of the biggest and best RPGs you can play today.
