If one thing is clear, is that in making Deus Ex: Human Revolution, developer Eidos Montreal had their work cut out for them. The original Deus Ex enjoyed legendary status and is considered by many to be the best RPG of all time. Its sequel Deus Ex: Invisible War was something of a disappointment, though. But fortunately, Human Revolution did not disappoint, as it was a rousing success that lived up to the original Deus Ex.

Human Revolution is set in a cyberpunk world in which large corporations like the one protagonist Adam Jensen works for are developing “augmentations” which can make humans faster or see better for instance. The game’s plot took Jensen to Shanghai and Montreal in order to unravel a dark conspiracy. And like in the original Deus Ex, players could resort to hacking, stealth, combat or just talking their way out of difficult situations. Player choice was certainly the game’s strong point, definitely making it one of the best RPGs ever released.
