12. Resident Evil: Retribution ($240 million)

It can be argued that this movie is a case of style over substance, and the weak link of the Resident Evil films. It still did phenomenally well at the box office though, making a whopping $240 million US dollars when it debuted back in 2012.

Of course, Resident Evil is one of the most successful B-movie series in Hollywood, and director Paul W.S. Anderson sure knows how to craft an entertaining zombie movie, despite the overuse of slow motion and CGI, and the rather convoluted plot.

But the appeal of Resident Evil cannot be denied, and Retribution’s female leads shine here again. These include the sultry Milla Jovovich, and Asian star Bingbing Lin who also looks stunning in this top-grossing video game movie.
